MSC.Software Corporation Europe is a research-oriented company providing advanced engineering solutions to the electronics and mechanical industries.
The NASTRAN program was developed by MSC Software Corporation Europe. MSC.Software GmbH was formed in 1993 when MSC Software Corporation Europe acquired the assets of Mechanical Simulation Corporation. MSC.Software Corporation Europe's products are under the NASTRAN brand. In 2003, NASTRAN was renamed to NASTRAN, and MSC.Software GmbH in Germany was created as a subsidiary. In 1991, MSC.Software Corporation Europe was founded. These numerical methods have been used to solve problems with complex geometries, including the case of composite materials, "multi-physics" problems, and simulations on non-linear, time-dependent problems.įrom the early 1990s, the NASTRAN family of programs became available, which were originally based on the Mechanical Simulation Corporation Nastran technology and use an optimised application of the finite element method to solve problems.
In this method, one constructs an approximation to the problem from small "elements", or mathematical sub-blocks which are used to model and calculate the results of structural, fluid, or thermal analyses. The Finite Element Method is an approach to the solution of engineering problems, especially those involving complex structural and fluid mechanics.
It was originally developed by the firm Mechanical Simulation Corporation in the 1980s. Nastran is a finite element analysis and computer code that is used to model complex geometries in mechanical design. The fatigue capability in it has been developed jointly by nCode International Ltd. A number of optimization algorithms are available, including MSCADS and IPOPT. Nonlinear FE problems may be solved with built-in implicit numerical techniques. This program is based on sophisticated numerical methods, the most prominent being the Finite Element Method. MSC Nastran is a multidisciplinary structural analysis application used by engineers to perform static, dynamic, and thermal analysis across the linear and nonlinear domains, complemented with automated structural optimization and award winning embedded fatigue analysis technologies, all enabled by high performance computing. For example, Nastran can be used to improve the economy and passenger comfort of vehicles and, more recently, electric vehicles (EVs).
